21st Century Education and The Online Education Experience

More Autonomy on the Job

December 1st, 2007 by William Krzewick

I have already began to see one truly significant job benefit extending simply from attending my online classes and pursuing this new online degree.

Ever since upper management has discovered how serious I am about getting my degree, the micromanagement from above has been diminishing and I am being given more autonomy to do my work.

Obviously, my employers know that I am attending school and pursuing my degree. As it has been imparted to me, whenever we are attending school and pursuing a new degree, it is in our best interests that we should see if we can get financial support from our employers and of course let them know that we are developing our skill sets and honing our professional knowledge and capabilites to use in the workplace. I, of course, did just that… and my employers have been very impressed.

It has made it easier for me to focus on my tasks and to manage my work better. This is merely from the understanding that I am specializing and gaining more managerial experience of my own from my course work. Just the knowledge that I am bettering myself as a productive employee has brought me more respect in the workplace!
